The Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) provides Indigenous men, women, families and youth who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness with timely access to assistance and/or referral. The program provides access to short term/crisis accommodation in Southern and Eastern Metropolitan Melbourne.
The SHS team co-ordinates client access to Housing/ Crisis systems and services and provides:
- Advocacy between Aboriginal and mainstream Housing/ Crisis Services
- Advice and assistance for documentation, data collection and assessment
- Intensive Case Management
- Assist to those in crisis and help to provide emergency accommodation, as well as looking at more stable and long-term housing.
SHS provide a referral service where we utilise partnerships set up with mainstream organisations. We can also refer to Indigenous and mainstream services state-wide through the Victorian SHS Network.
